Taj Mahal - totally worth the drive!

The fog wreaked a bit of havoc with our initial travel plans - our 6:15am train was delayed to 8:30, then 10:30 - at which point we went back to our b&b trying to figure out other options. The train that was returning to Delhi hadn't even arrived yet, making it more than 12 hours late and us doubting that we'd even make it to the Taj that day. Our hosts helped us secure seats in a private car/tour leaving the next morning and instead of a 2 hour express train, we enjoyed/slept through a 5 hour drive....the fog definitely slowed us down:

But of all things to drive that far for, the Taj was so worth it - especially as the fog lifted, about an hour before we got there. It was built by the Emperor in memory of his favourite wife - and when you finally see it, it's just simply amazing. And then when you hear the story behind it, as corny as it sounds, the underlying love does contribute to its beauty. It's set up so that this first building acts as a veil
